0.85% Saline Solution is an isotonic diluent and wash solution for general microbiology and cell handling workflows.

Commonly used for preparing bacterial suspensions, serial dilutions, and rinsing steps for organisms such as E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and for preparing inocula for quality control assays and routine laboratory procedures.

  • 0.85% Sodium Chloride
  • Microbial Cell Suspension: Isotonic diluent for preparing and resuspending bacterial inocula (e.g., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) without lysing cells.

  • Serial Dilutions and Plating: Used for preparing accurate tenfold dilutions for CFU enumeration, MIC testing, and general microbiology workflows.

  • Rinsing and Washing Cells: Gentle, non-buffered wash to remove media, enzymes, or serum from cells while maintaining osmotic balance.

  • Sample Preparation for Flow Cytometry: Isotonic carrier/diluent for washing and resuspending cells prior to acquisition.

  • Reagent and Standard Reconstitution: Sterile solvent for reconstituting salts, dyes, and standards where buffering is not required.

  • Transport and Holding Medium: Short-term maintenance of swabs or cell suspensions during processing to preserve viability.

  • Gram Staining and Microscopy Rinse: Maintains cell integrity during washing steps to prevent osmotic shock.

  • Hematology and RBC Washing: Isotonic wash for red blood cells in agglutination assays and osmotic fragility workflows.

  • Instrument and System Priming: Sterile, low-background solution for priming lines and rinsing fluidics where ions are required but buffering is unnecessary.

  • Osmotic Control in Assays: Baseline ionic strength control in experiments evaluating osmotic or salt-dependent effects.
