5M Sodium Chloride, Endotoxin Tested is a concentrated saline solution used to adjust ionic strength in buffers and culture media, to prepare high-salt wash and elution buffers for protein and nucleic acid purification, and to perform osmotic manipulations in microbial workflows, including work with E. coli.

Each lot is tested for endotoxin using a Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) method. The solution is suitable for applications where control of endotoxin levels is monitored, including cell-based assays, chromatography buffers, and molecular biology procedures.

  • 5M Sodium Chloride
  • Buffer and Media Formulation: Stock 5M Sodium Chloride used to adjust ionic strength and salinity in biological buffers and culture media.

  • Ion Exchange Chromatography: High-salt steps and gradients for protein elution and to minimize nonspecific binding.

  • Protein Stabilization/Solubility Screens: Modulates ionic strength to enhance protein folding, solubility, and stability.

  • Nucleic Acid Hybridization/Washes: Preparation of SSC/SSPE and high-salt wash buffers for DNA/RNA hybridization workflows.

  • RNA Precipitation: Provides Na+ and Cl− to aid ethanol/isopropanol precipitation and recovery of RNA.

  • Immunoassay Wash Buffers: Adjusts salt in ELISA and Western blot buffers to reduce nonspecific interactions.

  • Cell Culture and Isotonic Solutions: Dilution of 5M Sodium Chloride to prepare sterile saline and salt-adjusted media for endotoxin-sensitive applications.

  • Osmotic Shock Procedures: High/low salt transitions for periplasmic release in E. coli workflows.

  • Chromatography Buffer Preparation: Sets baseline ionic strength for size-exclusion and affinity chromatography to improve sample behavior.

  • Endotoxin: ≤0.5EU/mL
