56 Brix Sucrose Solution is an aqueous sucrose reference standardized to 56 °Bx at 20 °C for use in calibrating and verifying refractometers and soluble solids measurements. It supports method setup and routine quality control in food, beverage, and laboratory workflows where consistent Brix values are required.

Mix gently before use to ensure homogeneity. Brix readings are temperature-dependent; equilibrate the solution and instrument to 20 °C for specified value. Store tightly closed to minimize evaporation and contamination. Not for human consumption.

  • 56% Sucrose Solution
  • Density Gradient Centrifugation: 56% Sucrose Solution serves as a high-density stock for preparing 20–60% sucrose gradients to separate viruses, organelles, and extracellular vesicles.

  • Ultracentrifugation Cushions: Used as a dense sucrose cushion to pellet virions, membranes, and ribosomal particles while minimizing shear damage.

  • Parasitology (Fecal Flotation): Employed at ~56% sucrose to achieve high specific gravity for concentrating parasite eggs and oocysts in diagnostic workflows.

  • Refractometer/Brix Calibration: Provides a 56 Brix (≈56% sucrose) standard to verify and calibrate Brix and refractive index measurements.

  • Virus and Phage Purification: Utilized in step or continuous sucrose gradients to purify enveloped and non-enveloped viruses and bacteriophages.

  • Osmotic Adjustment (Stock Preparation): Diluted to prepare working sucrose buffers for osmotic stabilization of cells, protoplasts, and organelles.
