2.5 M Sodium Chloride, 20% PEG Solution is an aqueous mixture of sodium chloride and polyethylene glycol suitable for PEG/NaCl precipitation workflows. It is commonly used for concentrating filamentous bacteriophages from E. coli cultures, for viral particle precipitation, and for PEG-mediated nucleic acid precipitation procedures.

Intended for laboratory process steps where a combined salt and polyethylene glycol solution is specified by protocol, including phage precipitation and sample concentration applications.

  • 2.5M Sodium Chloride
  • 20% Polyethylene Glycol 8000
  • Bacteriophage Precipitation and Concentration: PEG/NaCl precipitation of M13 and λ phage from Escherichia coli culture supernatants for downstream DNA prep or titering.

  • Viral Particle Concentration: Concentrates viral vectors (e.g., AAV, lentivirus) from cell culture supernatants using PEG/NaCl precipitation.

  • DNA Cleanup/Precipitation: Selective precipitation to concentrate PCR amplicons or plasmid DNA and remove small contaminants.

  • RNA Precipitation: Enriches high–molecular-weight RNA species via PEG/NaCl-mediated precipitation.

  • Protein Crystallization Screens: Serves as a combined precipitant (PEG 8000) and salt (NaCl) condition in crystallography trials.

  • Extracellular Vesicle Isolation: PEG-based precipitation of exosomes and microvesicles from biofluids or conditioned media.

  • Macromolecular Crowding Studies: Provides high ionic strength with a crowding agent for phase separation and assembly assays.
