Polyethylene Glycol 8000 solution in water for molecular biology workflows. Commonly used as a molecular crowding agent in DNA ligation, polymerase reactions, and nucleic acid hybridization, and in phase partitioning systems with dextran. Employed for PEG/NaCl precipitation of filamentous bacteriophages and concentration of plasmid DNA from E. coli lysates.

Prepared with filtered, deionized water and suitable for laboratory applications requiring controlled osmotic strength and crowding conditions. Store at recommended refrigerated temperatures and mix thoroughly before use to ensure uniformity.

  • 30% Polyethylene Glycol 8000
  • Nucleic Acid and Phage Precipitation: Precipitates DNA/RNA and bacteriophages from aqueous solutions using 30% Polyethylene Glycol 8000 with NaCl.

  • Virus Concentration: Concentrates enveloped and non-enveloped viral particles (e.g., lentivirus, retrovirus, adenovirus) via PEG 8000 precipitation.

  • Phage Purification from Escherichia coli Cultures: Enriches and purifies filamentous and lytic phages (e.g., M13, T7) from culture supernatants.

  • PCR Enhancement: Acts as a molecular crowding agent to improve amplification of GC-rich templates and long amplicons.

  • DNA Ligation and Assembly: Increases efficiency of ligation and isothermal assemblies by macromolecular crowding.

  • Yeast Transformation (LiAc/PEG Method): Facilitates plasmid DNA uptake in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

  • Protoplast Fusion and Transformation: Mediates fusion and DNA delivery in plant and fungal protoplast systems.

  • Protein Crystallography: Serves as a precipitant and crowding agent in protein crystallization screening and optimization.
