1X PBS with 0.1% Tween-20 is an isotonic phosphate-buffered saline containing a nonionic surfactant. The buffer maintains near-physiological pH and ionic strength, and the surfactant facilitates gentle washing of biological samples and surfaces.

Used as a wash buffer and diluent in ELISA, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to remove unbound proteins and antibodies and to minimize nonspecific interactions. Suitable for membrane and slide rinses, cell culture vessel washing, and general laboratory procedures requiring a buffered saline with detergent.

  • 137mM Sodium Chloride
  • 2.7mM Potassium Chloride
  • 4.3mM Disodium Phosphate
  • 1.4mM Monopotassium Phosphate
  • 0.1% Tween-20
  • ELISA and other plate-based immunoassays: Standard wash buffer to reduce non-specific binding and background.

  • Western blotting: Membrane washing between antibody incubations to minimize non-specific interactions.

  • Immunohistochemistry/Immunofluorescence: Tissue and cell washing steps to improve signal-to-noise.

  • Flow cytometry: Cell washing and antibody staining buffer to limit non-specific binding.

  • Antibody diluent (RUO): Dilution of primary/secondary antibodies for various immunoassays.

  • Dot/slot blot and microarray workflows: Wash steps to remove unbound probes and antibodies.

  • General laboratory washing: Rinsing cells, beads, and labware to reduce hydrophobic interactions and background.

  • Protein assays: Wash buffer in capture and detection workflows to improve assay specificity.

  • pH: 7.30 ± 0.04
