1X PBS with 0.05% Tween 20, pH 7.4 is a buffered saline solution with a nonionic surfactant for routine washing and dilution steps in immunoassays, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. The pH 7.4 buffer maintains physiological ionic strength and osmolarity during sample handling, and 0.05% Tween 20 facilitates removal of unbound reagents to minimize nonspecific interactions.

  • 135mM Sodium Chloride
  • 2.7mM Potassium Chloride
  • 4.3mM Disodium Phosphate
  • 1.4mM Monopotassium Phosphate
  • 0.05% Tween-20 (v/v)
  • Western Blotting: Membrane washing between antibody incubations to reduce nonspecific binding and background.

  • ELISA: Microplate wash buffer for removing unbound reagents between assay steps.

  • Immunohistochemistry/Immunocytochemistry: Washes and antibody dilutions for fixed samples to improve signal-to-noise.

  • Immunofluorescence Microscopy: Washing and antibody dilution buffer to minimize background fluorescence.

  • Flow Cytometry: Wash/staining buffer for fixed cells to reduce nonspecific antibody binding.

  • Protein Arrays/Slot/Dot Blots: Membrane washing to limit nonspecific protein interactions.

  • General Laboratory Washing: Rinsing of labware and surfaces to remove residual proteins and detergents.

  • Antibody Diluent: Dilution of primary/secondary antibodies where mild detergent helps reduce background.

  • pH: 7.40 ± 0.04
