10N (10M) Sodium Hydroxide, Non-Sterile, is a concentrated alkaline solution for laboratory use in pH adjustment, titration, neutralization, base-catalyzed reactions, and preparation of high-pH solutions. The non-sterile format is suited for general chemical procedures and can be sterilized by the end user if required for specific applications.

This product is corrosive and requires appropriate personal protective equipment and chemical fume hood use. Store tightly closed to minimize carbonation from atmospheric CO2. Compatible with chemically resistant containers such as HDPE, PP, and glass. Avoid contact with acids and materials incompatible with strong bases. For laboratory use only.

  • 10N Sodium Hydroxide
  • pH Adjustment and Titration: 10N Sodium Hydroxide is used to rapidly adjust pH and as a standard titrant in acid–base titrations.

  • Buffer Preparation: Used to raise and fine-tune buffer pH during preparation of biological and biochemical buffers.

  • Cell Culture Media pH Control: Applied to adjust the pH of microbial and mammalian culture media, including media for Escherichia coli.

  • Alkaline Lysis: Employed in plasmid preparation workflows for alkaline lysis of Escherichia coli cells.

  • Protein Denaturation: Utilized to denature proteins for sample preparation or cleanup steps.

  • Cleaning-In-Place (CIP): Used for caustic cleaning of bioprocess equipment, fermenters, and chromatography systems.

  • Endotoxin Removal: Applied to inactivate and remove endotoxins from glassware and equipment surfaces.

  • Ion-Exchange Resin Regeneration: Used to regenerate anion-exchange resins and strip bound contaminants.

  • Ion Chromatography Column Maintenance: Employed for high-pH cleaning and regeneration of IC columns and systems.

  • Neutralization Reactions: Used to neutralize acidic process streams and samples prior to disposal or analysis.

  • Saponification: Utilized for saponifying lipids in analytical chemistry workflows.

  • General Laboratory Use: Use 10N Sodium Hydroxide for rapid pH shifts, deprotonation reactions, and base-catalyzed hydrolysis.
