NZYCM Broth is a nutrient-rich medium formulated for cultivation of E. coli and propagation of filamentous bacteriophages such as M13. The combination of complex nitrogen sources and sodium chloride provides a balanced environment for bacterial growth in liquid culture.

Magnesium sulfate supplies divalent cations often used in workflows involving filamentous phage infection and maintenance. This broth is commonly employed in cloning and phage display procedures that require reliable growth of E. coli host strains in shake-flask or bioreactor settings.

  • 1.0% NZ Amine
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 0.5% Sodium Chloride
  • 0.1% Casamino Acids
  • 10mM Magnesium Sulfate
  • Bacterial Cultivation: Nutrient-rich broth for routine growth of Escherichia coli host strains.

  • Plasmid Propagation: Supports stable maintenance and amplification of plasmids in E. coli for cloning and library work.

  • Bacteriophage Propagation: Optimized for coliphage growth and plaque assays (e.g., M13, λ, T7) with E. coli hosts due to Mg2+ supplementation.

  • Phage Display/Phagemid Rescue: Facilitates efficient amplification of phage-displayed libraries and phagemids in E. coli.

  • Transformation Recovery: Suitable for outgrowth of chemically transformed E. coli to enhance recovery before selection.

  • Competent Cell Workflows: Growth of E. coli host strains used in competent cell preparation and downstream applications.

  • Protein Expression Screening: Used for small-scale recombinant expression trials in E. coli.

  • Antibiotic Selection: Base medium for selective cultivation of E. coli with appropriate antibiotics.

  • pH: 7.00 ± 0.10
