M9 Minimal Salts Agar Plates with Thiamine-0.2, 0.4% Glucose, and 1 mM Magnesium Sulfate are defined agar plates formulated for cultivation of enteric bacteria such as E. coli under controlled nutrient conditions. Glucose serves as the sole carbon source, thiamine supplies vitamin B1 for thiamine-requiring strains, and magnesium and calcium provide essential divalent cations.

The solid medium format enables colony isolation, enumeration, and phenotypic assessment in minimal conditions, supporting applications that require defined media for genetic and metabolic studies with E. coli and related organisms.

  • 1X M9 Salts
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 0.4% Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • 0.2µg/mL Thiamine
  • 1.0mM Magnesium Sulfate
  • 0.1mM Calcium Chloride
  • Defined Growth of E. coli and Relatives: Culturing enteric bacteria on a chemically defined medium with 0.4% glucose for reproducible growth.

  • Auxotroph/Prototroph Selection: Screening and selection by omitting or supplementing specific nutrients on a minimal background containing thiamine.

  • Carbon Source Utilization Assays: Assessing metabolic pathways and catabolite repression using 0.4% glucose as the defined carbon source.
