LB Agar Plates with Chlor-34 are a nutrient-rich agar medium that supports the growth and selection of chloramphenicol-resistant E. coli strains. The inclusion of 34 µg/mL chloramphenicol enables selection and maintenance of plasmid-bearing transformants carrying chloramphenicol resistance.

  • 1.0% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Yeast Extract
  • 1.0% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • 34µg/mL Chloramphenicol
  • Antibiotic-Selective Cloning and Transformation: Selection of chloramphenicol-resistant transformants (34 µg/mL) in Escherichia coli following heat-shock or electroporation.

  • Plasmid Maintenance: Stable propagation of cat-marked plasmids in Escherichia coli and other chloramphenicol-resistant lab strains.

  • Colony Isolation and Streaking: Isolation of single colonies from mixed cultures under chloramphenicol selection for strain purification.

  • CFU Enumeration: Quantification of viable chloramphenicol-resistant cells after transformations, ligations, or library constructions.

  • Library Screening: Screening genomic or cDNA libraries carried on chloramphenicol-selectable vectors.

  • Strain Verification and Replica Plating: Verification of genotype/plasmid retention by replica plating onto chloramphenicol-selective LB agar.

  • Conjugation/Mating Selections: Recovery of transconjugants carrying chloramphenicol resistance markers on LB agar.

  • Protein Expression Workflows: Maintenance of expression strains bearing chloramphenicol-selectable plasmids prior to induction.

  • Stock Recovery and Passage: Revival of glycerol stocks and short-term culture maintenance of chloramphenicol-resistant Escherichia coli or Bacillus subtilis.

  • Microbial Quality Control: Monitoring contamination while preserving chloramphenicol-marked host strains such as Escherichia coli or Salmonella enterica.
