20X HBS-P Buffer, pH 7.6, is a concentrated HEPES-buffered saline containing a nonionic surfactant for preparation of a 1X working solution at neutral pH. When diluted 1:20 with high-purity water, it yields HBS-P suitable for workflows that require a zwitterionic buffering system with defined ionic strength and low-level detergent.

Common uses include preparation of wash and assay buffers for protein interaction studies, surface plasmon resonance, and general laboratory procedures where maintenance of physiological ionic conditions and reduced nonspecific adsorption are desired. This product is not formulated for culturing microorganisms such as E. coli.

pH: 7.6 at working strength. Supplied as a 20X concentrate. Recommended dilution: 1 part concentrate to 19 parts water. Store at 2–8°C; mix gently before use. Filter sterilization of the 1X solution may be performed if required by the application.

  • 3M Sodium Chloride
  • 0.2M HEPES Free Acid
  • 1.0% Tween-20
  • Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA): Used as a wash and antibody dilution buffer to minimize nonspecific binding and background.

  • Western Blotting: Serves as a wash buffer between antibody incubations, reducing nonspecific interactions and improving signal-to-noise.

  • Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR/Biacore): Functions as a running/binding buffer, maintaining physiological ionic strength and stable pH for interaction analyses.

  • Immunohistochemistry/Immunocytochemistry (IHC/ICC): Used as a wash buffer for fixed tissues and cells to lower background staining.

  • Flow Cytometry (fixed cells): Applied as a wash buffer during staining to reduce nonspecific binding and aggregate formation.

  • Immunoprecipitation and Bead-Based Assays: Employed as a wash buffer to decrease nonspecific protein adherence to matrices.

  • Antibody and Protein Dilution: Provides stable pH and ionic strength with mild detergent for reliable reagent preparation and reduced aggregation.

  • Microplate Wash Steps: Used for washing in plate-based binding assays to maintain consistent conditions across wells.

  • pH: 7.6 ± 0.04
