20% Glucose Solution is an aqueous glucose (dextrose) solution at 20% w/v for laboratory use in media preparation and supplementation.

It is used to adjust carbohydrate levels in liquid or solid media, to prepare glucose-enriched formulations such as 2XYT with glucose, and in workflows involving cultivation of organisms including E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as well as for buffer preparation, feed solutions, and analytical assays.

  • 20% Cerelose Anhydrous Dextrose (Glucose)
  • Microbial Culture Supplementation: Sterile carbon source for preparing glucose-containing media (e.g., M9, M63, LB+glucose, YPD) to cultivate Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and yeast.

  • Fed-Batch/Bioreactor Feeding: Controlled glucose feed to modulate growth rate and productivity in microbial fermentations.

  • Transformation Recovery Media (SOC/SOB): Added to SOC to enhance recovery and outgrowth of competent Escherichia coli after transformation.

  • Catabolite Repression/Expression Control: Maintains lac-based repression to reduce basal expression in T7/lac systems and supports CCR studies in Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis.

  • Minimal Media and Metabolic Studies: Defined carbon source for growth curves, diauxic shift experiments, and glucose uptake/transport analyses.

  • Enzyme and Coupled Assays: Substrate for hexokinase/G6PDH and glucose oxidase assays; supports NAD(P)H-generating coupled reactions.

  • Assay Standards and Calibration: Diluted to prepare standard curves for glucose quantification methods.

  • Osmolarity Adjustment: Used to increase medium osmolarity for osmotic stress or adaptation studies.

  • Biofilm and Phenotypic Assays: Controls carbon availability to assess biofilm formation and carbohydrate-dependent phenotypes.

  • Mammalian Cell Culture Supplementation: Adjusts glucose concentration in basal media (e.g., DMEM) for energy-demanding cell lines.
