1M Citric Acid, pH 2.95, is an aqueous acid solution suitable for pH adjustment, sample preparation, and method standardization in laboratory workflows. The defined molarity and pH provide a consistent acidic environment for procedures requiring controlled proton activity.

This solution is commonly used for buffer preparation, ion-exchange column conditioning, and cleaning protocols where a mild organic acid is required. Citric acid’s chelating properties support applications involving sequestration of divalent metal ions under acidic conditions.

  • 1M Citric Acid

  • Buffer Preparation and pH Adjustment: Prepare citrate buffers (e.g., 10–100 mM) and titrate solutions/media to acidic pH using 1M Citric Acid.

  • Antibody Purification (Protein A/G Elution): Make low-pH elution buffers (e.g., 0.05–0.1 M citric acid, pH 2.7–3.0) for efficient antibody release.

  • Ion-Exchange Chromatography: Control sample and mobile-phase pH for cation-exchange steps and gentle acidic elutions.

  • Enzyme Assays at Acidic pH: Maintain pH 3–6 for acid-stable enzymes and quench reactions by rapid acidification.

  • HPLC/LC-MS Mobile Phases: Provide acidic buffering and chelation to improve peak shape and reproducibility for metal-binding analytes.

  • Metal Chelation and Nuclease Control: Chelate divalent cations and reduce Mg2+/Ca2+-dependent nuclease/metalloprotease activity.
