Antibiotic Medium #11 is a standardized agar medium for compendial agar diffusion (cylinder-plate or plate assay) procedures. It is used as a seed layer to cultivate specified test organisms and to determine antibiotic potency by measuring inhibition zones under defined conditions.

Typical applications include microbiological assays of selected antibiotics, as directed in USP/EP/BP methods, using organisms such as Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus aureus, or Bacillus subtilis, in conjunction with the appropriate base media and standardized inoculum.
