1 M Sodium Hydroxide is a defined alkaline solution used for pH adjustment of buffers and culture media, as a titrant in acid–base analyses, and as a component in alkaline lysis protocols for plasmid DNA preparation from E. coli. It supports base-catalyzed hydrolysis and saponification steps in chemical and biochemical workflows where controlled high pH conditions are required.

  • This is a GMP-grade product that is manufactured in compliance with our Quality Management System in ISO 13485 certified facilities.
  • 1M Sodium Hydroxide
  • pH Adjustment of Media and Buffers: Used to raise and precisely control pH in culture media, buffers, and process intermediates.

  • Chromatography Column Cleaning and Regeneration: Applied for stripping and sanitizing ion-exchange and other resins with high-pH washes.

  • Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) of Bioprocess Equipment: Employed to clean and sanitize tanks, lines, and manifolds in closed, sterile systems.

  • Plasmid DNA Preparation (Alkaline Lysis): Utilized to lyse E. coli cells during plasmid isolation workflows.

  • Affinity Resin Sanitization (e.g., Protein A): Used for periodic high-pH sanitization to reduce bioburden and fouling.

  • Membrane and Filtration System Cleaning: Applied to clean UF/DF cassettes, TFF systems, and filter housings between runs.

  • Endotoxin Reduction and Surface Depyrogenation: High-pH treatment helps inactivate and remove endotoxins from equipment surfaces.

  • Neutralization and pH Correction: Used to neutralize acidic process pools and waste streams before disposal or downstream processing.

  • General Decontamination: Employed for surface decontamination against laboratory bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
