5M Sodium Chloride Solution is a concentrated saline stock used to adjust ionic strength, sodium and chloride activity, and osmotic conditions in laboratory protocols. It serves as a convenient source of NaCl for preparing and modifying buffers, media, and salt solutions.

Typical applications include supplementation of microbial culture media for osmotic balance, including workflows with E. coli, preparation of salt washes in nucleic acid and protein purification, formation of salt gradients, DNA and RNA precipitation with alcohols, phase separation in phenol–chloroform extraction, and preparation or verification of solutions for conductivity and osmolality measurements. GMP manufactured.

  • Buffer and Media Preparation: Used to make PBS, TBS, and to adjust salinity in LB/TSB for culturing Escherichia coli and other microbes.

  • Ionic Strength Adjustment in Protein Purification: Tunes salt concentration for ion-exchange chromatography and reduces nonspecific binding in affinity workflows.

  • Nucleic Acid Precipitation and Purification: Provides salt for DNA/RNA precipitation with ethanol/isopropanol and for setting binding/wash conditions in silica column protocols.

  • Hybridization and Blotting Buffers: Used to prepare SSC/SSPE for Southern/Northern blots and in situ hybridization.

  • Cell Washing and Resuspension: Supplies isotonic saline conditions for rinsing cells and preparing diluents.

  • Osmotic Stress and Salt-Tolerance Studies: Modulates salinity in experiments with Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus.

  • Antimicrobial Testing and MIC Assays: Adjusts medium salinity and prepares saline stocks and serial dilutions.

  • Dialysis Buffer Formulation: Controls ionic strength to minimize nonspecific interactions during dialysis.

  • Protein Crystallization: Tunes ionic strength in crystallization screens to influence crystal formation.

  • Enzyme and Antibody Handling: Provides defined NaCl levels for reagent storage and dilution.
