1X Phosphate-Buffered Saline (PBS) with 0.05% Tween-20, pH 7.4, supplied in a 20 L carboy. Buffered saline containing a nonionic surfactant for routine laboratory workflows.

Commonly used for washing steps in immunoassays and blotting procedures, surface rinsing, and dilution of antibodies and reagents.

  • 137mM Sodium Chloride
  • 2.7mM Potassium Chloride
  • 4.3mM Sodium Phosphate
  • 1.4mM Potassium Phosphate
  • 0.05% Tween (v/v)
  • Western Blotting: Wash buffer for nitrocellulose/PVDF membranes to reduce nonspecific antibody binding.

  • ELISA: Plate wash buffer between incubation steps and diluent for antibodies/reagents to minimize background.

  • Immunohistochemistry/Immunofluorescence: Washing and mild permeabilization of tissues and cells during staining workflows.

  • Flow Cytrometry: Staining/wash buffer to limit cell aggregation and nonspecific interactions.

  • Immunoprecipitation/Bead-Based Assays: Wash buffer to remove nonspecific proteins from antibody- or ligand-coupled beads.

  • Protein/Nucleic Acid Blotting: Wash steps for Southern, Northern, and dot blots to lower background on membranes.

  • In Situ Hybridization: Detergent-assisted stringency washes to improve probe specificity.

  • Cell Culture Workflows: Gentle washing of adherent or suspension cells and removal of residual serum proteins.

  • Antibody/Antigen Dilution: Diluent for primary/secondary antibodies and antigens to stabilize and reduce nonspecific binding.

  • Bacterial Sample Processing: Washing of fixed bacterial cells (e.g., E. coli) prior to immunostaining or plate-based assays.

  • pH: 7.40 ± 0.04
