Potato Dextrose Agar Plates with Tartaric Acid are an agar medium for the cultivation and enumeration of yeasts and molds from food, dairy, and environmental samples. Acidification with tartaric acid lowers the medium pH, limiting bacterial background and facilitating fungal isolation.

These plates are suitable for spread plating, pour plating, and environmental monitoring workflows. Typical uses include isolation and enumeration of yeasts and molds from raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in microbiological quality control.

  • Potato Dextrose Agar Plates with 0.14% Tartaric Acid
  • Yeast and Mold Enumeration: Acidified medium for counting yeasts and molds in foods, beverages, and dairy products.

  • Environmental Monitoring: Settle/contact plates for fungal bioburden surveillance in cleanrooms and production areas.

  • Fungal Isolation and Cultivation: Primary recovery and routine culture of filamentous fungi and yeasts from mixed samples.

  • Sporulation and Morphology Studies: Promotes conidiation and characteristic colony morphology for identification.

  • Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic QC: Detection of fungal contamination in raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods.

  • Water System Monitoring: Enumeration of fungi in purified and process waters.

  • Plant Pathology: Isolation of phytopathogenic fungi from seeds, plant tissues, and soils.

  • Antifungal Efficacy Testing: Recovery medium for challenge studies and preservative effectiveness tests.

  • Growth Promotion Testing: Compendial verification of fungal recovery performance for method suitability.

  • Microbial Limit Testing (Fungi): Selective enumeration of fungal contaminants in non-sterile products.
