20% Sarkosyl Solution, RNase/Protease tested, is an anionic detergent prepared for laboratory use in nucleic acid and protein workflows. Each lot is evaluated for RNase and protease activity.

Applications include cell lysis, membrane solubilization, and denaturation steps in DNA and RNA extraction, chromatin preparation, and protein processing from bacterial and mammalian samples, including E. coli cell pellets and tissue lysates.

  • 20% Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosine
  • Cell Lysis for Nucleic Acid Extraction: Efficiently lyses cells and Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., E. coli) to release high-quality DNA/RNA.

  • RNA Isolation and RNase Inactivation: Denatures proteins and inactivates RNases for high-integrity RNA prep and Northern blot sample preparation.

  • Membrane Protein Solubilization: Solubilizes membrane proteins for extraction, purification, and downstream analysis.

  • Polysome/Ribosome Profiling (Ribo-seq): Used in lysis buffers to solubilize membranes while preserving ribosome complexes for gradient fractionation.

  • Viral Lysis for Nucleic Acid Extraction: Disrupts enveloped viruses to release viral RNA/DNA for detection workflows.

  • Chromatin and Nuclear Lysis: Disrupts nuclear membranes and chromatin-protein interactions for chromatin and nucleosome preparations.

  • Inclusion Body Solubilization: Helps solubilize aggregated recombinant proteins from inclusion bodies prior to refolding.

  • Biofilm and Sample Disruption: Assists in dispersing bacterial biofilms (e.g., Pseudomonas aeruginosa) to improve nucleic acid recovery.
