Tryptic Soy Agar Settle Plates are pre-poured plates formulated for environmental monitoring by passive air sedimentation. The medium provides a general-purpose nutrient base suitable for the cultivation of a broad range of nonfastidious microorganisms encountered in indoor air and cleanroom environments.

These plates are commonly used for passive air monitoring, area qualification, and trending in controlled environments, and for the recovery of environmental isolates including bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis, as well as yeasts and molds.

  • 1.5% Tryptone
  • 0.5% Soytone
  • 0.5% Sodium Chloride
  • 1.5% Agar
  • Environmental Monitoring (Passive Air Sampling): Used as open settle plates to capture airborne viable microorganisms in cleanrooms and controlled environments for bioburden assessment.

  • Cleanroom Qualification and Routine Monitoring: Deployed during static and dynamic conditions to verify environmental control and meet ISO/GMP monitoring requirements.

  • Aseptic Processing Support: Placed near critical operations to detect contamination events during compounding, filling, and other open-microbiology activities.

  • Operator Shedding Assessment: Positioned around personnel work zones to assess microbial shedding during gowning qualification and ongoing monitoring.

  • HVAC/HEPA Performance Checks: Used near supply diffusers, returns, and critical airflow paths to track airborne viable counts and verify filtration effectiveness.

  • Cleaning and Disinfection Effectiveness (Airborne): Exposed pre- and post-sanitation to trend reductions in airborne bioburden.

  • Microbial Enumeration and Trending: Incubated and counted to establish baseline flora, set alert/action levels, and support environmental trend analyses.

  • General Recovery of Aerobic Bacteria: Non-selective support for organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus, Bacillus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa from ambient air.

  • Food, Hospital, and Device Facility Monitoring: Applied in production and healthcare areas to verify hygienic conditions and air quality.
