0.5 M Sodium Hydroxide is an aqueous alkaline solution used for pH adjustment, neutralization, and base-catalyzed reactions in chemical and biological workflows. It is suitable for titrations, preparation of alkaline buffers, and controlled pH elevation in media and reagents for bacterial culture, including formulations used with E. coli. GMP manufactured.

This solution is compatible with common laboratory plastics and glass under standard conditions. Store tightly closed to minimize atmospheric CO₂ absorption and concentration drift. Handle using appropriate PPE and alkaline-safe practices.

  • This is a GMP-grade product that is manufactured in compliance with our Quality Management System in ISO 13485 certified facilities.
  • 500mM Sodium Hydroxide

  • pH Adjustment of Buffers and Media: 0.5 M NaOH (500 mM) is used to raise and precisely adjust the pH of buffers, culture media, and reagents.

  • Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) and Sanitization: Effective for sanitizing chromatography columns, FPLC/HPLC systems, and filtration assemblies; removes biofilms, endotoxins, and nucleases.

  • Resin Regeneration: Utilized to strip and regenerate anion exchange resins between purification runs.

  • Alkaline Lysis for Plasmid Preparation: Employed with SDS to denature DNA during plasmid miniprep from Escherichia coli cell pellets.

  • RNA Hydrolysis/Removal: Used for selective alkaline hydrolysis of RNA to reduce RNA contamination in DNA preparations.

  • DNA Denaturation for Blotting/Hybridization: Applied for alkaline denaturation of DNA in Southern blots and colony/plaques lifts.

  • Labware Depyrogenation/Decontamination: Removes endotoxins and denatures proteins on glassware, stainless steel, and system tubing.

  • Neutralization and Titration: Used to neutralize acidic solutions and adjust process streams in bioprocess workflows.
