MacConkey Agar

MacConkey agar is a selective and differential media used for the isolation and differentiation of non-fastidious gram-negative bacteria, particularly members of the family Enterobacteriaceae. It is used for the differentiation of lactose fermenting gram-negative bacteria and to differentiate bacteria that ferment sugars other than lactose.
