What grades of materials are used in my product?

How should I store my product?

We recommend following the storage condition as stated on the Certificate of Analysis or label. Other types of storage can cause decreased performance. Plates cannot be stored frozen, but can be stored in the refrigerator without any harm to performance.

What is the formulation of this product?

Why can’t I find a specific product on the website?

Why does the pH of my buffer change?

Use of buffers allows reactions to be maintained at a fixed pH, which can be particularly helpful when mimicking biological conditions or processes. It is important, however, to recognize the fundamental limitations associated with buffers related to the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation, pKa values, and the buffering capacity of the species utilized. Parameters that may change the pH (even slightly) include temperature, ionic strength of additives, and dilution considerations. This intriguing topic has been reported on for decades, with the earliest discussion of dilution factors reported in 1954. Specific to the dilution of buffers with water, it has been shown that a 10-fold dilution of a phosphate buffer can change the pH by 0.3 units. These changes have also been studied for varying temperatures and ionic strength of competing species in the buffered solution.

What is the best method to thaw our broth?

Recommended thawing conditions include placing the broth in the refrigerator (~4°C) to thaw slowly overnight. Once thawed, invert the bottle 5x to ensure homogeneity of product prior to use.

How much will I be charged for shipping and handling?

Teknova charges its customers the actual shipping cost. There are no shipping surcharge or handling fees.

What is the total cost of my order?

The total cost of your order will be the product cost plus tax plus the actual shipping cost.  The Grand Total will be provided at the time of shipment.

I am paying by credit card. Why is the amount ‘authorized’ to my credit card greater than the product cost?

For credit card purchases, Teknova pre-authorizes the cost of the product plus $125 for small orders or 25% of the product cost for large orders.  The Grand Total actually processed on your credit card will normally be less than the pre-authorized amount. The Grand Total equals the product cost plus tax plus the actual shipping cost and will be determined at the time of shipment.

Why is there a difference between the ‘authorized’ shipping cost and the ‘actual’ shipping cost?

Until your products are carefully packed by our shipping associates and ready for shipment, Teknova does not have the exact size and weight of the shipment. The ‘authorized’ shipping cost is normally more than the ‘actual’ shipping cost. Teknova does not charge its customers any extra shipping or handling fees above the actual shipping costs charged by the carrier.

Can I get an estimate of the actual shipping costs now?

Is your system able to automatically generate a shipping estimate?

Teknova is developing a proprietary Shipping Calculator which will immediately calculate the lowest cost packing and shipping method to provide you with the actual shipping cost at the time the order is placed. We will be rolling this out to our customers soon to reduce the time, cost and complexity of shipping.
