1 M IPTG is a ready-to-use inducer solution for lac-based expression systems. It is used to trigger transcription from lac, tac, and T7-lac promoters in plasmid-bearing cultures of E. coli and related hosts that carry the lac operon or lac repressor.

This non-metabolizable analog of allolactose provides controlled induction independent of cellular lactose metabolism and is compatible with common antibiotic selection regimens used in bacterial cloning and protein expression workflows.

1M Isopropyl-B-D-thiogalactopyranoside(IPTG)

Recombinant Protein Expression: Induces expression from lac/tac/trc/T7-lac promoters in Escherichia coli (e.g., BL21(DE3), C41(DE3), C43(DE3)) in shake flasks and bioreactors.
Blue-White Screening: Facilitates lacZ α-complementation with X-gal to distinguish recombinant colonies in Escherichia coli.
Reporter Gene Studies: Activates lac-controlled reporters (e.g., lacZ, GFP) for promoter characterization and gene regulation assays in bacteria.
Bacterial Two-Hybrid Assays: Induces lac-based transcriptional readouts to analyze protein–protein or DNA–protein interactions.
Phage Display: Controls expression of fusion proteins (e.g., pIII/pVIII) from lac-regulated vectors during selection and amplification.
Synthetic Biology and CRISPRi/a: Provides precise induction in lac-operator-controlled circuits and gene modulation systems in Escherichia coli.
